polari_issue_41 Christopher informs that Polari’s Issue #4 “Sci-Fi in Hi-Fi” is now up in its entirety, including a ~3000-word article with Tori.

There are two versions for users to take in:

Christopher, the Editor-in-Chief of Polari, shares that he “spoke to Tori last night after her wonderful performance at the Savoy Theatre. She told me that she thought the cover art was beautiful and that she was looking forward to seeing the interview. That was an incredible pleasure, as I’m sure you can imagine.”

Yesterday American Songwriter posted an interview by Jonathan Curtiss titled Girls on Film: An Interview with Tori Amos, in which Tori talks about themes of the new album, the SXSW debut, the visualettes, and defining success as a songwriter.

“At that point, those 360 deals were being offered and I just thought ‘How disrespectful.’ I mean, come on, that’s like offering me up to be a mistress.”

An Interview for Presstext Austria

Martin Jan Stepanek kindly shared an interview he had with Tori in Vienna for Pressetext Austria. The article touches topics of piracy, more official bootlegs, and privacy and her personal life.

In a Reuters UK article, Tori reveals:

“The world has changed completely, it seems, in the past two years. The world that we all knew before, could wake up in feeling safe, … now it seems that everything has been turned upside down… The record is asking all kinds of questions about power — how do we define it? Because if it’s with money then we’re all in trouble. And what is success? What are we attracted to? Because it kind of needs to change”

Article: Tori Amos, Abnormally Attracted To Sin

An anonymous source kindly sent me this printed article (without cited author) as well as most of the Abnormally Attracted to Sin album lyrics on Friday, March 27. It’s quite an interesting read, revealing the background of some of the new songs and the themes of the upcoming album.

“I wanted to really investigate how we’re controlled by the threat of despair,” Amos said. “I wanted to look at power–how we think and how you can reclaim the right to think for yourself, to uncover what you believe in as a spiritual, sexual creature. You don’t need the approval of your family, or of their religion. You can think, ‘Wait a minute, I’m a spiritual being. Just because I like gold handcuffs doesn’t mean I’m not a spiritual being. These definitions are not for my mother to make about me.’ What I am exploring with this record is power, and giving it away with your thinking. How do we become controlled?”
