LEAKED AMERICAN DOLL POSSE LYRICS
the following lyrics were sent to me by a source assuring their validity. for what it’s worth, i thought i’d share them to at least spark more discussion and we’ll find out soon enough if they’re real. the lyrics have been confirmed. in addition, the speculated tracklisting was also confirmed as 20 album tracks and 3 DVD extras. thanks and enjoy!

YO, GEORGE
I salute to you commander and I sneeze
‘Cos I have now an allergy to your policies it seems
Where have we gone wrong America?
Mister Lincoln we can’t seem to find you anywhere
Out of the millions from the deserts to the mountains
Over prairies to the shores
Is this just the madness of King George? Yo, George
Is this just the madness of King George? Yo, George
Well you have the whole nation on all fours
FAT SLUT
Fat slut you said
What luck I said
To be stuck in your, your happy family
Well don’t you dare I said
Judge me you go
And stick it in somewhere
I’m I’m sicka hearin’ it, you go
Stick it in somewhere I’m
I’m sicka hearin’ it
DEVILS AND GODS
Devils and gods now that’s an idea
But if we believe that it’s they who decide
That’s the ultimate detractor of crimes
‘Cos devils and gods, they are you and I
Devils and gods, they are you and I
Devils and gods, safe and inside
VELVET REVOLUTION
Feeling radical in cotton purified in my satin
But the bomb of the season is the velvet revolution
Aye-ee look at the sky
And feel the tears of the prophets crying
Aye-ee look at the sky
And feel the rain their reign of tears
Feeling radical in cotton purified in my satin
But the bomb of the season is the velvet revolution
All you killers of the children
There’s a new commandment
The true divine creator wants a velvet revolution
All you killers of the children
There’s a new commandment
The true divine creator wants a velvet revolution

Ah, now there’s some Tori for us… Velvet Revolution is going to be awesome , I know. And I hope this clears it up for all the haters of the tracklist names because Yo George and Fat Slut actually do sound kick a**. I think we do hear a Warrior Woman chanting her war cry! Can’t wait!!
Thank you dear Audrey!
I don’t think I can form an opinion based on just lyrics.
I will wait for the songs to make up my mind.
Velvet Revolution sounds neat though. I don’t know how it will sound with flamenco guitars and that Spanish flavor.
and goodbye cryptic lyrics.
[...] du 12 mars 2007: Here. In my head vient de révéler les paroles – partielles – de “Yo George“, “Fat Slut“, [...]
These lyrics are all correct except the last few lines. She says, “THE TRUE DIVINE CREATOR WANTS A VELVET REVOLUTION”…not, “…WAS A VELVET REVOLUTION.”
Damn it, this sucks for people who don’t hate George Bush – but who love Tori.
thanks for more confirmation, a-bomb! unrelated funny, someone i know calls me “a-bomb” all the time.
You’re right, Prayer, the on,ly cryptic lyrics I was able to find on these songs was on “Bouncing”–”wrapped in metal, wrapped in ivy, smothered in whipped cream.”
Nice, thanks for the info! I like straight messages and the political things in there. I hope she’s really into this project.
Yo, George:
“Well you have the whole nation under FORCE”
Not FOOT.
Yeah, these lyrics aren’t very cryptic, but they are just the interludes. The longer songs seem more cryptic (see “Bouncing Off Clouds”).
How can you love tori and George Fucking Bush at the same time?
I’m not an american. But i would think this album would really reflect how TORI thinks about america in this century. Can’t wait for the album~
Got my best high heels ready for the first listening of the new album. The “King George” lines got me soooo damn hot for this new album i can hardly contain myself!
Rawr. Super excited for this release. I’m glad to have WarriorTori back. She’s been rotting in a little cell at the back of Delerium’s mind since From the Choirgirl Hotel and we’ve only had brief glimpses through the sight of MotherTori, and though we love all the Tori’s, we’re happy happy happy now…
Hi Audrey, there’s also 1 more correction. The last line to ‘Yo, George” is actually “…you have the nation on all fours.”

How can you love tori and George Fucking Bush at the same time?
*raises hand slowly*
Tori fan for 10 years. Saw her in concert twice. Voted for Bush twice. Looks like I’m sitting on the sidelines for this album. I don’t even like political content in music when I agree with it.
Not everybody that’s a Republican is religious right.
Duh. anyone who’s been a listener of tori over the years should have already had a pretty clear picture of her political beliefs. whether or not she writes explicitly about them is no matter. artists of all genres have reflected the state of politics in their music. i don’t think tori would advocate for either major party but that she is free to condemn those who she believes ‘have our country on all fours’ just like anyone else is. Although, as for me personally, i have a degree in political science and still cannot understand the mindset of republicans….even those who don’t consider themselves a part of the religious right. in my studies i have found that non-religious republicans are typically more concerned with ecomonic matters over social issues. fine. doesn’t make sense to me at all though. the majority of republicans seem to try to curb true equality at every turn. and no matter what my views on money issues are, i could never support a party like this. but i digress. it’s music. it can be good no matter what the lyrics. i myself enjoyed jack white and loretta lynn (who is one of the most conservative musicians ever) duets. can’t wait for teh album!
As far as politcs goes I think Tori summed it up best when she said, “…There’s nothing stronger than making someone feel that they have the right to question those in authority. And I don’t think this battle will be won by using music the way it was used in the sixties. You don’t want to get dragged into the rhetoric of either party, because if you are, you’ve been seduced into their lair. Instead it’s about reminding women, and men—but there are more young women than men standing in line at my show—of their potential.”

Go Tori! These lyrics are the bomb! Tori is enraged and so she should be! It will take generations to repair the damage Bush has done to America’s international reputation. Can’t wait for the album.
i actually wish the blantent bush bash wasn’t on the album, especially not the opening. we had brilliant subtlety via scarlet, do we need this 5 years later? we already know how she would feel, how most of us feel,…
it just feels obvious and old hat to me (unless hearing it will completely change my mind).
I hate it when celebrities stand up on their soapbox…and going to concerts has been so tiring the last seven years with practically every artist out there pitching their two cents. Guess what? I really don’t care…I just wanna hear some good music. I promise you that you do too. One of my all time favorite artists is Ani Difranco and I always notice how people clap and yell whenever there is some anti-Bush line in a song or some other cool f-you to political situations. Hell, I even join in. But the audience suddenly explodes into the loudest most manic yelling and excitement when she decides to do Gravel, a non-political song. Goes to show ya…the majority, regardless of how left they are, prefer their music without a statement on current events. Pay attention at the next Tori show…I promise this will be the case as well. People just wanna hear some good tunes about stuff that they can relate to. One of the reasons Tori has been my favorite artists throughout the years is because of her subtleties. Cuz even if she writes a song about politics, she disguises it enough when I listen to it so I can put it to use into my own life and experiences.
And really, ten years from now, is Yo George gonna be anywhere near as good as it will be next month? Hell, it won’t even be as good as it would’ve been had she done this back in 2000. The CD will come out, she’ll go on tour, and by the time the tour is over Mr. Bush won’t even be in office anymore. The album will be more dated than Little Earthquakes is today.
I just hope, like Ani, the music will be so good I won’t care about the lyrical content. Keeping my fingers crossed. Then again, Yo George might be the only “in your face” track on the cd…in which case I will have bitched for nothing…cuz one out of twenty (an interlude at that) won’t be that bad.
Guys, is it just me or are you also concerned about all these leaks? It doesn’t seem fair that the album is being judged when no one (refuse to count the Dutch guy) has heard the album? Don’t think Tori would have leaked bad audio quality songs. Hope she rips someone a new asshole.
i feel like some artists these days purposefully leak their own stuff to get press and excitement on it.
come on, considering that tori is her own producer, produces in her own studio, and seems to be more careful than ever on her masters, do you think that NOBODY in her camp had a hand in this?
i don’t buy it, eh.
Honestly, anyone who’s lived in America and experienced the last two campaigns of hell that Bush has brought not only to the American people but to the world and yet *still* doesn’t dislike him has no business being here. With all the destruction of art and expression that’s gone on, all the oppression and hate and violence that’s been propagated, people like that have no business around art. If you’re blindly following some stupid political party, then you really ought to back up and look at your life and where its meaning went.
That having been said, I have to agree that the lyrics are the equivalent of sitting spreadeagled in a miniskirt with no panties on. This isn’t the brilliance that attracted me to Boys for Pele, and it doesn’t reflect even the raw genius of Little Earthquakes. It’s not explorative like Under the Pink, not hallucinogenic like From the Choirgirl Hotel, it seems to be just as bland and devoid of meaning as most of The Beekeeper was.
Who knows — maybe she’ll shock us by totally changing and these lists will be disproven. Maybe the music will actually be decent, unlike the soporific Beekeeper tracks. But this is one I’ll definitely wait to buy until I can borrow it from a friend and listen first. While I was impressed by Scarlet’s Walk…that’s the last thing she’s done that’s even moved me.
In my opinion, if you’re going to castrate your music for your kid’s benefit, retire. It’s not really an excuse. If you don’t think an album’s right, don’t release it in the first place.
Who knows though, maybe she’ll rubberband right back after a few turkeys. But it’s been a while. Joni Mitchell may have had a couple of losses in her portfolio, but mostly it’s all solid to brilliant. Kate Bush is the same way. What’s up, Tori? She’s shown she’s every bit as good…but what’s happened lately?
Anyway, I say either fish or cut bait, as they say. If you want to revolve your life and music around your kid, perform for your kid. If you want the rest of the world to be interested at all, well, it might be nice to have some artistry in there.
christina, you could be right, but I just find it hard to believe that tori would leak something that sounds like shit. first meeting with the world and you send her out in the aural equivalent of rags?
“True divine creator” is a contrast to Ialdabaoth, the false creator. Her take on christianity looks to be fascinating.
true enough. Ialdabaoth is the god of this material world, the god of the status quo. I bet she will explore religious radicalism as a compliment to her political positions against the status quo.
She likes being a lightning rod and the lyrics and photo are encouraging. I hope the record is just totally on fire.
come on guys. nobody complained about the directness of the lyrics to Me and a Gun. that’s a pretty straight-to-the-point song. and what about the closing lyric of Professional Widow? “Give me peace, love and a hard c***” both of these are phenomenal songs. so what’s the big deal?
ah. promosquad.
Yes, Ophelia, not all republicans are “religious radicals” or “evil”. Thank you. I will not buy this album, and I’ve been a Tori fan for over 10 years.
It is sad to me that Tori is chosing to devote a whole album to glorifying “hate-mongering” liberally-biased rhetoric. And, trying to influence a generation of her fans towards this viewpoint of the world (i.e., liberal politics). Sad.
Yes, I understood “Mother Revolution” and “Barons of Suburbia” and all the subtle references to how our country is falling apart due to “evil” republicans, etc. etc. We GET IT, all of you. You HATE George Bush…. He’s going to be out of office soon… how much longer do we have to continue to listen to liberals b*tching about him? Why not stop living in the past & put forth some plans for our future????
The only people who want to hear this continued whining about Bush are those who agree with it (i.e., liberals). Those of us who don’t agree with this viewpoint are sick of it already and don’t need it rammed down our throats in a “political has turned personal” record. I’m done.
I don’t think it’s just George Bush Tori is attacking though. It’s all authoritive figures who hide truths and mask wrong doings with self-rightousness. She said the same things about the Church in her other albums and it didn’t seem to bother you then (“I’ve been a Tori fan for over 10 years…”). I am not particularly an overly angred person when it comes to government issues (mayhap that is Tori’s point here- to make people AWARE of their opinions or lack thereof) and I don’t go seeking politically powered material. However, I am a fan and the music and poetry is what I am after. It sounds like it is the right wingers who have the problem here with mixing politics and art together. If you cannot see the difference and separate them while listening, maybe you need to listen to The Pussycat Dolls or something just as shallow, so as not to upset your world in which you live. I’M done.
I could be wrong, but I don’t think any of the anti-war singers of the 60′s directly castigated politicians the way so many artists do today with George W. Bush. Yes, Bush will be out of office soon, and hopefully Tori and all these liberal musicians bitching about him will prevent the young generation from ever electing someone like him as leader of this great nation again. And I honestly don’t care if every president henceforth is a Republlican, but you have to draw the line somewhere.
I love what holaticktock had said, love ya.
Being an artist, i mean a real artist, is to convey her thoughts into a form, for TORI is into sound and words. You are not necessary to BUY it, if you think these thoughts are not convincing. But TORI just being TORI. And i wonder how many of them had read her book: piece by piece. Cuz, i do think they don’t really know much about her.
When did Tori get so f*cking commercial?
^ya! I’ve always thought that Tori was her own artist with a “f*uck what the label wants”. And, does Tori have skitsofrenia? e.g. multiple personalities disorder? there seems to be two distinct Tori’s now. One, a sensible, smart, business-savvy woman, the other, a kooky, outspoken, godess-agan, i’ve always thought that there was one Tori Amos, the kooky, outspoken one. Hmmm, this is a time of much confusion! or maybe i just think too much?
Ooops, i meant to say “f*ck what the label wants” attitude. please forgive my stupidity!
Stinky (and everyone else with a similar shoulder-chip) — The anti-war singers of the 60s, like Joan Baez, were so naively literal and preachy (“I haven’t paid my income tax since…”) that they were easy to make fun of for all the wrong reasons.
Sometimes people have to be direct, sometimes people have to give certain points more impact by shrouding them in a more contemplative context.
But if you hate “liberals” so much, you would never have listened tod her to begin with. Check your own idealogy and the problems it causes you, not hers.
And also, it won’t be dated because the effects of what he did will be felt for far longer than anyone generally cares to contemplate.
I love Tori, but I really do not know how anyone can say that these are good lyrics. The piano arrangements better be bad-ass, or we’re going to have another Beekeeper on our hands. As for Republicans…What the fuck are y’all thinking?
Juliet–OMG! Did I sound like I hate liberals? EEK! I guess I’m not such a good writer! (“…all these liberal musicians bitching about him will prevent the young generation from ever electing someone like him as leader of this great nation again.”) I called them “liberals bitching” because Veronica called them that. Maybe I should just stick to Soduku. : (

seriously. i don’t buy the my kid doesn’t understand excuse because you could simply..dundundun..not let your children listen to it until they’re older. it’s like actors never doing a negative role ever again because their kids wouldn’t understand it. don’t let them watch it!
and the difference between kate bush and joni mitchell and tori is that tori still seems to want a lot of attention whereas the others have gracefully “aged” with their music. even bob dylan, who many say to be vain and egoccentric, has aged with his audience and played smaller venues and toured because he loved it and with people he liked, rather than play to a half empty arena like tori seems to be willing to do.
don’t get me wrong, i’ll still end up with the album and i’ll still end up at shows, heh. but i just don’t understand why tori needs to make it so difficult/embarrassing to be a fan. sometimes, i feel like she’s saying f the fans, not the music industry. then again, after my boyfriend at the time and i broke up, i was in love with certain beekeeper songs, heh.
as far as someone’s comment that me and a gun was literal. even that wasn’t a literal translation of what happened to her. but there was an earnestness that comes with first albums maybe? that made le songs endearing, not trite.
but considering that some of tori’s worst song titles have been her best songs (iieee), im holding out for fat slut being awesome!
um.
veronica.
it’s not like tori’s politics in songs are new. try sweet dreams.
were you hanging on for ten years hoping she’d let it go? hehe.
yeah, the bitching about bush is getting old as hell. i mean, COME ON. if it
had been kerry that would have won, we’d be raking him over the coals
instead of bush. any person that steps into that office will make enemies
no matter what. there will always be actors and musicians that will have
something derogatory to say about the people in office. i mean, i have
nothing against bush. i figure he has made what he THOUGHT were good
decisions. even though he has fucked up royally. i mean, no president is
gonna get in there and try to devise plans that will fuck up all of america.
there are too many people in the world for everyone to be satisfied. it
doesn’t matter because i love tori. i don’t care if she released an album
titled “why i hate my fans”. i’d buy it. all i’m saying is i’m excited about this
album–political bashing or not.
y’all are fun to read. i’m excited about the new album, but it seems like tori always jumps on the bandwagon a little too late. yktr was good early 80s music that was released in the late 80s. people were over it. i think that’s what’s happening here. tori fans will still love it and freak out about it and follow her around the country to see every show. because she’s tori. cut she’s not making herself very open to grabbing new fans. i mean, i’ve been a fan for 10 years-ish, but i know that there are people out there who have never heard her that would appreciate it as much as i do. they just need to have that door opened.
if i try and get a friend into tori, i always make them listen to older stuff. i keep the newer stuff away from them. and i have a feeling that there will be great tracks, but this one isn’t going to open that door.
okay, i’ve rambled.
i’m excited.
new album.
yay.
ya, i’ve never really got tori when she said she was toning the naughty tori down for her daughters benefit, i mean, on the tours for “scarlet’s walk” and “the beekeeper”, wasn’t she still singing “professional widow” while natasha was waiting in the wings for her mother to come off stage? she sang that song in florida on the “welcome to sunny florida” dvd and her daughter was there.
^No, Tori has stated that “Widow” was always performed when Tash was already taken away and put to sleep.
tori admits she was never raped in the book ‘pretty good years’. it now appears that was just another one of her ‘characters’ or another ‘persona’ if you will. about the new cd, i’ll reserve judgement till i hear the cd. i really only like tori for her music. she’s a real fruit loop, just try to read ‘piece by piece’, good luck deciphering that gobbledygook.
dude, you need to check your facts. Tori WAS raped. no one lies about being raped, you asshole. to everyone who believed this crap, read this and then copy and paste the link below to read what the dent said.
“Tori has said in multiple interviews that she was raped. It isn’t only something she wrote as a lyric for a song–she has said in the first person that she was raped. So, we can’t dismiss this as being something written by her for a song.”
http://72.14.209.104/search?q=cache:1TrmHN0B37wJ:www.thedent.com/rape.html+TORI+WASN%27T+RAPED&hl=en&ct=clnk&cd=1&gl=us
there’s been a lot of discussion on this and while i understand that this is an important topic for some fans, personally, i would rather that those of you who wish to perpetuate that tori (or anyone) is a “liar” please take your conversation elsewhere. you’re entitled to your own opinions about the matter, but if tori feels that she was raped, then she was. not because tori can tell no lie, but because it is such a personal tragedy that only the victim’s experience matters. also, i certainly don’t want the debate about this issue occur on my website. so please take it to a more appropriate forum.
