  • Strange Days – Tori’s Tour Dates Liberated by Fan Site Hackers in Anticipation of STRANGE LITTLE GIRLS – August 15, 2001
    Atlantic Records press release

Atlantic Records reported this event in an official press release, using it as a clever excuse to create buzz for Tori’s upcoming tour. The real story was that the official website ToriAmos.com first announced that they were going to release tour information on a set date. The day before the dates were to officially release, I guessed the URL to the webpage (which they had irresponsibly and prematurely uploaded to their live, public server) and shared my finding with the Tori Amos online community. The guess was simply based on other URLs released in official Tori Amos email newsletters. So what was just a simple, random guess sparked their misuse of the word “hacking”. Go figure!
